A Poem For My Friend Larry Cunard
My Friend Larry Cunard
September 2, 1949- September 26, 2009
Larry was a man much like any other; he had his frailties and faults, some problems and uneasy thoughts.
By the Lord’s grace and the power of his will he gave what he had and shared God’s Love
For times such as these I know he was sent from up above.
He went to the prisons to help get men freed
He sang, acted, and played his guitar depending on the need
He opened his home and most important his heart, to the mighty men of war
He poured in oil and tended to the wounds of many who were scarred
A tower of strength, a humble encourager for the young and for the haggard
A fine example for his family and friends, when adversity arose his faith never staggered
In business and in life his character showed forth; an integrity rare in this day and hour
Those of us who worship the King, know that was the secret of Larry’s power.
If he was here right now I’m sure he’d tell us to carry on the work of the kingdom and not to be broken hearted
He’d smile and say in his hearty voice go finish what we’ve started.
So in this time of trial and grief, when a tear fills your eye look heavenward and smile.
Let your fears be quieted and your heart refreshed because its not “good-bye”, its “I’ll see you, Lar, in a little while.”
It is evident by your words that you knew him well. When I’d ask Larry to write a poem, he always answered that it wasn’t that easy sometimes, it took time…something you have done and given of yourself for my family. We all love you, Kathy, Holly & Reid Cunard
Oh, Dr. AJ! What wonderful images in this poem, straight from the vision of the HEART OF GOD in his word of comfort to his people yesterday!
In memory of Larry, a mighty warrior, a man of his word, a man of faith. May the Lord raise up others to take his place in the front lines.
I am so devastated to know that Larry passed away. He was my boss for 5 years and the most incredible, wonderful person to work for. I have never worked for another boss like him.
To Kathy, Holly and Reid I send my condolences. I am so sorry to hear about his passing. Kathy if you see this post please contact me via email if possible.
All my love

Dearest Larry,
As a brother in Christ and a fellow warrior in the prison system it was very hard for me to say “Goodbye.”
I don’t know where you been my friend but I know where you are going and I want to be there too when I die.
So Larry I will try to carry on but I cannot even play a guitar or do enough good time in jail to fill your shoes.
But I can raise a team of a dozen or more that can help others and follow your example to spread the “Good News”.
Much Love and Compassion in Christ,
John Michael
I believe I was led to this web site by the Holy Spirit. I grew up in a town called Bellmore, on Long Island, N.Y. I went to school with two brothers, John and Larry Cunard. About 10 years or so, after high school, I ran into Larry in Long Beach, where I believe he had a heavy equipment company, “Cunard Cranes”. We never stayed in touch. Back then, we had nothing in common. Neither one of us knew the Lord, yet. John did. I used to see him witnessing on the boardwalk. What a soldier in God’s army. Reading this page, I am wondering if the Larry Cunard I knew and the Larry Cunard you speak of are one and the same. I would appreciate it if you would let me know. Thank you.
In Christ,

To Hedy Soreco…
Yes. The Larry Cunard we speak of here is the Larry Cunard you knew. He did own Cunard Kranes which later became K. Cranes named after his beautiful wife Kathy.
The Larry I knew was a Soldier for Christ. He witnessed to men at the stockade and made a difference in many, many lives. He was a great man and will be dearly missed.
