Daily Scripture: Vowing To Turn It Around

Posted by Dr. AJ Rubano 24 Oct, 2008

As the rain falls on the earth this morning, let the spirit of God rain on you and reign in you as you meditate on tese words found in Genesis 28 (NIV)

Genesis 28

20 Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear 21 so that I return safely to my father’s house, then the LORD [g] will be my God 22 and [h] this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth.”

Up to this point in his life Jacob had been true to his names meaning, Deceiver.  Through deception he had gained both his brother’s birthright and blessing.  After encountering God in a dream he woke up and made this vow and began to change his direction.  Though he experienced challenges along the way and was himself the victim of deception at the hand of his Father -in-law Laban (even he couldn’t vioate the law of sowing and reaping) Jacob experienced God’s protection and supernatural provision.

Today set your focus on building the kingdom of God and allow the Holy One of Israel to work on your behalf.

God Bless You,

Dr A.J.
