Daily Scripture: Don’t be Afraid to Prosper on the Inside

Posted by Dr. AJ Rubano 27 Oct, 2008

Here is a great post for overcoming internal fears…….

Be blessed as you meditate and apply on today’s scripture passage to your life.

Genesis 32 (NIV)

26 Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.”
But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”
27 The man asked him, “What is your name?”
     ”Jacob,” he answered.
28 Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, [e] because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome.”

With all the talk and teaching aout prosperity one thing we need to understand is the first place that prosperity needs to take place is on the inside of us.  We learn in III John that it is God’s will for us to “prosper and be in health even as OUR SOULS PROSPER” (caps added).  I beleive that Jacob battled feelings of insecurity and inadequacy.  You would too if every time someone spoke your name they were prophesying “DECEIVER”.  As he returned home from serving Laban back to his father’s house he had an encounter with The Angel of the Lord and got the blessing he really needed… a changed name.  Once you recieve Jesus in your heart you too recieved a name change, ”Christian”, one who is like Christ!  Add to that “Overcomer”!  Now let your life LIVE UP to that name.

God Bless You,

Dr A.J.
