Daily Scripture: What’s In A Name?
The word of the Lord will stand forever. The question is what is its standing in your life? May the blessing of the Lord overtake you as you stand on this Word found in Genesis 35 (KJV)
Genesis 35
17And it came to pass, when she (Rachel) was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.
18And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father (Jacob) called him Benjamin.
As Rachel was giving birth to this, the last of Jacob’s sons, knowing she was about to die, she cried out the name to be given to the child, Benoni which is interpreted “Son of my sorrow”, but Jacob, and God, had other plans and instead gave him the name Benjamin or “Son of my strength.” Today you may be going through a sorrowful experience, but the end result of that experience will be what YOU decide to call it. You can determine it to be the “end of you”, “the straw that broke the camels’ back”, or “evidence that I am a loser”. Your success, though, is reliant on you siding with God in these situations and “calling things which be not as though they were!” Jacob had every reason to be sorrowful, but chose not to accept that is the final say in his life. He knew that God could take a mess and make a miracle; and just as God did for Jacob he will do for you and take everything the enemy has meant for evil in your life and cause it to work together for your good.
God Bless You,
Dr A.J.
