Inspiration: “It has been said that posture is the window to the spine. That’s because what we see in the mirror is caused by what is happening to the muscles and bones underneath the skin. In reality, posture is a window to our health. It should be treated as an indicator, much like blood pressure can be used as an indicator of cardiovascular health.” Joseph Ventura, D.C.
Be: (positive Confession) I am a Posture Pro.

Do: (first steps) Today, sit up straight, pull your shoulders back, and absolutely no slouching.  Remind you of your Mom or Dad addressing the poor posture you demonstrated while in grade school?  Believe it or not, simply willing yourself to sit and stand straight still won’t get the job done; which is why despite your best efforts to please your parents you always look crooked in those old (and new) family photos.  Good posture can go a long way in helping your confidence and improving your overall appearance and, trust me on this, can be improved by adding some proven postural exercises to your daily routine.  The two most common postural distortions I see on a daily basis are Upper and Lower Cross Syndromes.  Simply stated, Upper Cross Syndrome occurs when the muscles in the chest and anterior (front) neck over power the muscles on the posterior (back) neck and upper back.  If you have rounded shoulders and the center of your ears are in front of your shoulders than this is you.  The correction of this problem is done by stretching the chest and front neck muscles and strengthing the upper back and rear neck muscles.  Lower Cross Syndrome is very commonly a cause of lower back pain and is usually the result of tight Hamstrings (the back upper thigh muscles) and Psoas Muscles (located at the bottom of the abdomen and groin on both sides) and weak lower back and front leg muscles (quadriceps).  To fix this you need to shorten the lower back muscles through strengthening exercises and elongate the hamstrings and psoas through flexibility maneuvers.  To receive an explanation of specific exercises to correct upper and lower cross syndromes simply post a comment to Today’s Daily Thought and a link will be emailed directly to you.

Have: (making dreams reality) As I address the root cause of poor posture instead of feeling uptight I’ll stand upright, allowing me to feel and look better!

Be, Do, and Have the Best Day of Your Life! God Bless You!
